Who we are!
Bayou Community Academy Charter School is a Type 1 public charter school of choice for Lafourche Parish residents. BCA provides free public college preparatory education for Kindergarten through 8th grade scholars. We also have one Pre-K class which is a tuition based program costing $450 a month with a $100 nonrefundable deposit.

For families interested in enrolling their children for this current school year (August 2023-May 2024), an application may be picked up either at our school location (800 East 7th Street) or the Business Office (600 Canal Blvd Suite B). Once the application is completely filled out and turned in along with a proof of residency, a copy of the child’s social security card, and a copy of the birth certificate, in a sealed envelope, you will receive a phone call regarding your child’s status. If a position is available you will receive information regarding his/her first day. If a position is not currently available, you will be notified of his/her location on our current waiting list for the year. 

Checklist: 

1. Complete Application
2. Proof of Residency (Applicant must be a Lafourche Parish resident. Examples of proof include a water bill or an electricity bill with the name of the parent/guardian applying for their child along with the address of residence. An affidavit must be filled out if these forms of proof are not available. Affidavits may also be picked up from the school location or the business office).
3. Copy of Child’s Social Security Card
4. Copy of Child’s Birth Certificate
5. $100 Deposit (ONLY if enrolling in PreK) 

ALL items must be completed in full when turning in. Please no originals. You must provide your own copies as no copies can be made at either office location.

Open Enrollment: For new families interested in Pre-K through 8th grade for next school year (August 2023-May 2024), parent informational meetings for enrollment will be held in January 2023. In November 2022, you may visit our website at www.bcacharter.org under Announcements for posting of Open Enrollment meeting dates and times. 

Open enrollment age criteria for 2023-2024 school year: Pre-K: Must be 4 years of age by September 30, 2023 Kindergarten: Must be 5 years of age by September 30, 2023 

NOTE: Parent(s) must attend one Parent Informational Meeting. Driver’s license is required to receive an application at the meeting. The following items must be attached to the application:
